 My name is Captain Cliff Fleming.  Join me for a trip on the Crystal clear waters of the Lower Laguna Madre Bay of Deep South Texas. My experience encompasses a lifetime fishing including these waters since 1974.  Trained as a Geophysics Data Processor I decided to create Crystal Flats Guide Service in 1986 as professional Private 6-pack charter captain licensed by the United States Coast Guard. Though I was born in Amarillo Texas the year of 1960.  I grew up as a Hunting Fishing Harlingen Texas outdoorsman. My outdoorsman personal trainer hales from a Sportsman Family who helped pioneer South Texas and Northern Mexico Fishing and Hunting guided adventures.

Having been blessed with some on the job training technical background in the Information Technology realm many inspired clients encouraged my efforts to create The Crystal Flats Website. Having been perhaps the first Web induced independent Private bay charter Captain of this area this quest lead me on a journey searching for a new method to get quality clients. Many Captains have since come online and headed for their own independence. I hope you enjoy my site as much as I enjoyed its evolution.  My objective and hope is to inspire those who choose my services as well as to enjoy a fun day on the water.  Understanding what it takes to be a leader in a highly competitive fishing service industry I proudly invite everyone fishing of all ages and experience levels. 

My forte is sight fishing for targets or confront the challenge of weary tailing redfish and speckled trout.  Success is the ability to formulate the clients’ requests to match their skill levels this approach is a first priority.  Each trip on the water customer fishing is the main focus so my list of sponsors and trophies are not as important as my customer satisfaction record.  Whether exploring the depths for exotic fish species of Port Brownsville or near shore Jetties sport fishing, as well as North on the Laguna Madre all the way to Port Mansfield this is my back waters comfort zone and the realm where I feed my mind and educate others about the ever-changing fishing challenges that can last a lifetime.

Being one of the best kept Fly Fishing Secrets around doesn’t affect my ability to get down to earth. I love kids and families are most welcome.  In addition Birdwatchers and sight seekers have there place on my boat as well.  If you care to expand your fishing knowledge and skills rather than always settling to be anchored in the same rut I can help.  One can enjoy fishing many techniques through out any given trip live bait anchored on the channel included. With an open mind I can help make an improved fisherman out of just about anyone.
